In the thrilling world of automotive spy shots, we see all kinds of interesting Ferraris. We don't often see a Ferrari painted with a very deep black, very similar to the famous Vantablack, which is why this recent sighting is noteworthy for several reasons. The car you see here, is quite likely a test mule only using a modified SF90 Stradale body for powertrain testing purposes, however, it’s almost certainly Ferrari's next-generation hypercar.

Ferrari SF90 Stradale - Test Mule

It might look like a standard SF90 Stradale, but there are definitely quite a few changes that the black coverage hides. “Vantablack” is one of the darkest substances known in the world, it’s a sprayable paint that uses randomly-aligned carbon nanotubes and only has high absorption in the visible light band. This makes it impossible for us to spot any differences in the design, especially that this color can absorb up to 99.965% of visible light. The spy photographer that caught the SF90 Stradale on public roads would get only 0.035% of the light coming off the vehicle and hitting the camera sensors, which makes it difficult to see what’s hiding underneath. Is this Ferrari’s latest tactic to hide what’s underneath their upcoming Ferrari’s?
